Visual Art in the Classroom

Over the duration of my four year undergraduate course, I embarked on a number of modules that allowed the exploration and learning of various 2D and 3D art,craft and design displicines which I have implemeted in my own teaching practice over the placemnets I have done.

Theme - Versus (vs.)

​

Aim;To create a lino print, experimenting with different drawing techniques creating tone and line from primary sources while also exploring the theme Versus.

​

Learning Outcomes

​1.4 demonstrate how they use drawing to observe, record and analyse the human figure and the world around them

 

1.12 apply their understanding of the art elements and design principles to make an artwork.

 

2.6 investigate their own personal approach to craftwork through the technical and creative application of drawing and mark-making

 

2.13 identify the role of media in the development of craftwork

 

3.6 design a final work based on their drawings

Cardboard Construction UoL 

Cardboard Construction  VAC 

Theme - Today's Shoe

​

Aim;To Design and Create a 3D  Cardboard shoe while exploring drawing techniques using line, tone and form under the theme “Todays shoe”.

​

Learning Outcomes for Brief

  1. Use drawing to analyse, investigate, plan and record visual information from primary sources.

  2. Identify relevant and appropriate artists' work to support research, design and construction stages as part of the art-making process.

  3. Experiment with a variety of cardboard material to make three-dimensional forms based on a design plan.

  4. Explore surface quality and texture through the manipulation of card and other material.

  5. Employ a variety of joining and assemblage techniques to combine forms.

  6.  Construct a scaled replica of source object using cardboard.

  7.  Propose an outline for a related UoL appropriate to the classroom.

Theme - The Familiar

​

Aim; To create and design a mixed media painting through the theme ' The Familiar' while exploring line, shape and colour through collage and stencil work

​

Learning Outcomes

2.4 show they can use their drawings to observe, record and analyse

 

2.11 research the use of art elements and design principles in historical and contemporary craftwork from their own and other cultures

 

1.13 identify media which are used to create artwork​

 

 3.6 design a final work based on their drawings

​

1.7 examine the method of a number of artists and the artwork they created
